Tourism Website
The Tourism website domain name has been requested www.ruakakanz.com per the standard format used by information centres around the country. This domain name will cost $50 per annum. Will REDG approve this expenditure? Once the website is set-up we will have some income from a business directory listing fee to offset this cost. Zartaj will set up and host the website for free.
We spoke with Cheryl Lee about the website and also setting up an Information Area/Board at the new round-about on SH1. “She said go for it”.
We are looking for suitable professional quality photos that showcase the area for the website.
Information area
We had a discussion about approaching the owner of the land and businesses already operating at the round-about to seek permission to erect a Tourist Information Board and put a pamphlet stand in one of the businesses.
Main Road Signage
Michelle Kirkpatrick is waiting on the final REDG logo before proceeding any further with the design of the sign.
Rugby World Cup 2011
The only events known to be organised in the area for the Rugby World Cup 2011 are the Ruakaka Races on Saturday, 10 September and the Northland Seafood Festival in October; to be held at a later date than normal to coincide with the rugby.
